This compelled the university to lose its federal character.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Soon after that it became the university affiliated by the state.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> In the year of 1973 this university further moved to the campus of Jnana-Bharathi-Campus which is spread over the sprawling area of 1100 acre. </span><br /> <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">It is this university which is considered to be the originator of Visvesvaraya-Technological-University (VTU). This university is also supposed to bring the universities like Rajiv-Gandhi-University-of-Health-Sciences and NIMHN that is National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This university has the recognition for offering the largest number of Ph.D in the country.
